Our Story
(Bob Bearfield)

if time could tell our story
I think that it would say
that trouble struck a ship that sailed a perfect waterway
distracted by survival
we lost sight of our plan
to sail the ship together to the perfect lovers' land
as seconds turned to minutes
and hours into days
and months turned into desperate ploys to leave the ship at bay
we swam off from each other
forgetting that it takes
two to work together for the love we planned to make
and it's alright
we found this island and the sun's come out
and there's the chance to work through doubt
that we can build a better boat with what is left
if we have hope
if time could tell our story
I think that it would see
both of us torn up between what was and what could be
resentment for each other
that things could get so bad
and longing for the laughter and the love that we once had
and it's alright
we have the chance to nurture either choice
we could part but time might voice
that sometimes love can be seen through
with special care to make it new
it time could tell our story
I think that it would say
that weather can be overcome with team work on a rainy day
and overall it's worth it
time has seen before
the light that love can shine after weathering a storm
and it's alright
we found this island and the sun's come out
and there's the chance to work through doubt
that we can build a better boat with what is left
and we have the chance to nurture either choice
we could part but time might voice
that sometimes love can be seen through
with special care to make it new
let's make it new
if you can bring the lumber
and I can bring the tools
then we can build a stronger ship
that isn't just a ship of fools
let's make it new
